Dr. ZHU, Bin has been working in cross border technology transfer and investment sector for over a
decade time. He has been serving various state investment promotion agencies for Denmark and Canada
in China market during earlier years, and established the Invest-in Finland team for Greater China market
from scratch since autumn 2014.
Invest-in-Finland under Business Finland is a State Agency under Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs
& Employment. Its responsibility is to promote investment opportunities in Finland to the overseas
investors who can also benefit from Finnish business eco-system. In China (and other countries outside
Finland), as part of Business Finland, it acts as the commercial section of the Finnish Embassy and
Consulates.
Build the IIF China team from scratch. The IIF China team succeeded in closing over 30 investment
deals during the past 36 months, with an accumulative total investment of approx. 10 billion USD
(comparing the total accumulative investment from China to Finland counts 125 million USD, from
1950 to 2014, data from China Embassy at Helsinki).
On top of a few significant green field investment cases, IIF Team’s major successes have been
achieved in cross-border equity investment and merge & acquisition. IIF-China team have been
involved pretty much all the major inbound equity investment and M&A by Chinese investors during
the past three years.
IIF China team had also built its good network of over 200 Chinese growth capitals, which are great
potential resources for earlier stage Finnish innovative companies.
Before his career in investment field, Dr. ZHU Bin was a scientific researcher in bioinformatics and
molecular evolution, as assistant professor of School of Life Sciences, Fudan University. He holds a PhD
degree from Fudan University in bioinformatics while part of the PhD program was done in Queen’s
University, Canada.
